Name: Osprey Campground
Osprey Campground is situated on the western shore of Priest Lake near the south end. There are 15 camping sites with five of them on the lake. If you want one of these sites, you will want to reserve it well in advance. It was very rainy when we visited so I'm sorry if the pictures look a little gloomy. There is good access to the lake. However, the beach is not nearly as nice as the beaches at Luby Bay or Reeder Bay. The campground is well maintained and would be very enjoyable. Currently, they are working on bringing drinking water in from nearby Outlet Campground. Until that is accomplished, they are bringing in large containers of drinking water for your use. The campground is heavily wooded, providing a decent amount of privacy without making you feel isolated.
Campsites: 15 RV campsites, 10 are reservable and 5 are first come first serve. Each have a picnic table and fire ring with gravel driveways.
Host on Site: Yes, she seemed very nice and helpful.
Water: There is water available. Currently, the drinking water system is in disrepair so they are bringing in potable water from Outlet Campground. A water line is being installed from Outlet Campground for future use. There is no electricity available.
Garbage Services: There is garbage service available.
Restroom: The toilets are flushing. They are clean and well stocked.
Handicap Accessible: The toilets are handicap accessible.
Firewood: You may purchase firewood from the camp host.
Pets: Pets must be kept on a leash.
Recreation: This campground is in a beautiful setting but It is surrounded by private property which limits hiking and certain other activities. The beach is limited and it has no boating facilities. The main activity here is just plain camping out. I got the feeling that many people camped here but went elsewhere to swim, boat or hike.
Fishing: You have access to the lake for fishing.
Boating: There is no dock or boat ramp here.
Swimming: The beach here is very limited. The host said they normally give you a "day pass" for the beach at Luby Park a few miles up the lake.
Wildlife: One could certainly expect to see deer in the campground. I would advise that you use bear safety precautions with your food storage and disposal.
Additional Camping Opportunities: Outlet Campground, Upper Luby Bay, Luby Bay, Reeder Bay, Indian Creek Loop(Priest Lake State Park) and Lionhead Loop(Priest Lake State Park).
Phone service: There was cell phone reception on our AT&T phone.
Nearby Services: You will be able to find any service you might need along Highway 57 from Priest River in the South to Nordman to the North.
RV Dumping Site: There was not one here but Upper Luby Bay does have an RV dumping station.
Location/Driving instructions: From Priest River, Idaho, follow Hwy 57 north for 26 miles. Turn right on Outlet Bay Rd for .3 miles. Take a slight left on W. Lakeshore Rd and travel 1.1 miles to the campground on your right. Note: If you use Google Maps and type in "Osprey Campground on Priest Lake, Idaho", it will direct you to a nearby street, not the campground.
