Name: Outlet Campground
Outlet Campground near Outlet Bay on Priest Lake offers a variety of settings. There are a few sites on Priest Lake but most are on the wooded slope above the lake. About half of the camping sites are heavily wooded, while the other half have been thinned, leaving a much more open environment. There is a picnic table and fire ring at each site. I found the campground to be poorly maintained. Broken tables, trees fallen through campsites and when I tested the water it ran dark rusty water for about 30 seconds. The sink in the bathroom was very rust stained. The roads and driveways are paved but the pavement has not been maintained and is falling apart. To be fair, I saw a lack of maintenance while my wife saw "rustic". We visited in late June and the campground was empty. Of course, this has been a very wet spring so maybe campers are holding out for warmer weather.
Campsites: There are 27 RV and tent camping sites total. Two of the sites are walk in tent sites. The remainder of the sites could be used by either RV or tent campers. Most have large driveways.
Water: There is pressurized water throughout the campground.
Garbage Services: There is garbage service available in "Bearwise" cans.
Restroom: There are flushing toilets.
Handicap Accessible: The toilets are handicap accessible.
Pets: Must be on a leash.
Recreation: The big attraction here is Priest Lake for fishing and boating. The area is beautiful! I am sure many people come to hike the trails in the surrounding mountains. There is a beach with a roped off swimming area. When we were there, the lake was high so the beach was underwater. I'm sorry we don't have pictures of the swim area.
Fishing: There is access to Priest Lake at the campground or one could drive to other locations. Priest River is only a short drive away.
Boating: There is not a boat ramp or dock here but it is a short drive up the lake past Luby Bay to the Fish and Game boat ramp.
Wildlife: Deer could easily be seen in the campground in the morning or evening. This is bear country so take the normal precaution with your food and waste.
Additional Camping Opportunities: Osprey Campground, Upper Luby Bay, Luby Bay, Reeder Bay, Indian Creek Loop(Priest Lake State Park) and Lionhead Loop(Priest Lake State Park).
Phone service: We had reception on our AT cell phones but there is no pay phone at the campground.
Nearby Services: Services such as gas, ice, and pop can be found scattered along Hwy 57 from Priest River in the south to Nordman to the north.
RV Dumping Site: The nearest RV Dumping station is at Upper Luby Bay Campground.
Location/Driving instructions: From Priest River, Idaho, follow Hwy 57 north for 26 miles. Turn right on Outlet Bay Rd for .3 miles. Take a slight left on W. Lakeshore Rd and travel .4 miles to the campground on your right.
