Name: Willow Creek Transfer Camp

Willow Creek Transfer Camp is located on Willow Creek to provide access to Trail #018. The Camp is on fairly flat land with 4 campsites, corrals, feed bunks, stock water and loading chutes. The surrounding mountains are forested with several trails nearby.

Campsites: There are 4 sites for camping, each with a picnic table and fire pit with attached grill. The road and driveways are gravel. The corrals are together near the feed bunks which are near the loading chutes.

Host on Site: No.

Water: No drinking water.

Garbage Services: No.

Electricity Available: No.

Restroom: There is a vault style outhouse which was clean and well stocked when we visited.

Handicap Accessible: The outhouse is handicap accessible. The camping sites are rather level and smooth when compared to the average campground.

Firewood: You will need to provide your own firewood.

Pets: Are allowed but must be kept on a leash.

Picnic Area: No.

Recreation: The recreation here would be camping and hiking or riding the trails.

Fishing: There is no local fishing however one could hike into Grouse Lakes from here. Or drive back to the South Fork of the Boise River for trout and white fish. Check the regulations for seasons and limits.

Boating: No.

Swimming: No.

Wildlife: Deer, elk, black bear and wolves live here. You could also see fox, squirrels and other small mammals. Mountain birds abound in this forest. I saw quite a number of robins, too. Use caution with your food and garbage storage to avoid trouble with any nearby bears.

Additional Camping Opportunities: We have reviews for these nearby campgrounds; Anderson Ranch Reservoir Area, Abbot Campground, Dog Creek Campground, Elks Flat Campground, Chaparral Campground, Bird Creek Campground, Willow Creek Campground and Baumgartner Campground. There is are a few very nice free primitive camping site along the creek between the Camp and Willow Creek Campground.

Phone service: There is no phone service at the Willow Creek Transfer Camp. There is an emergency phone available at the forest service location down the Boise River a short way.

Nearby Services: For camping supplies you run out of checkout Featherville, Idaho.

RV Dumping Site: I don't know of an RV dump station closer than Mountain Home to the west and south. If you are going out to the east there is an RV dump station at Big Smokey Guard Station.
