Name: Park Creek Gampground
Park Creek Campground is situated on the east bank of Clear Creek on some gentle hills. It is in a mature forest with a fair amount of underbrush. The sites are spread out, offering greater privacy than most campgrounds. The road and driveways are dirt and can be heavily rutted in the spring.
Campsites: There are 24 tent / RV camping sites arranged in one large loop, but they are separated into Rainbow and Trout Loops for reservation purposes. The sites vary in accommodations. All have a picnic table and fire ring while some also have a barbecue grill. I saw some with only a primitive stone fire ring.
Host on Site: There is no host on site at Park Creek Campground.
Water: There is potable water but it had a fairly strong metallic taste. I recommend you bring your own drinking water.
Garbage Services: Yes, there is garbage service.
Restroom: There are 2 vault style outhouses. We did not check them as the entire campground was reserved at the time we were there.
Handicap Accessible: Yes, the outhouses are handicap accessible but the campground would not be a good choice for a handicap camper.
Firewood: None available, bring or gather your own.
Pets: Pets are allowed on a leash only.
Picnic Area: No separate picnic area. There are group fire rings for each loop.
Recreation: Recreation in this area includes pretty much all forest activities such as camping, fishing, rafting, hiking, biking, horseback riding, ATV riding, wildlife viewing, photography...
Fishing: Clear Creek is small but has a few fishing holes. The South Fork of the Payette River is less than 4 miles away. Check the regulations here.
Boating: No boating here.
Swimming: No swimming here but one could play in the creek.
Wildlife: Deer are common here. This is bear country so use caution when storing your food or disposing of your garbage. One may also see elk, fox, wolves, and many species of birds.
Additional Camping Opportunities: There are 5 other campgrounds nearby: Deadwood, Helende, Kirkham, Mountain View and Pine Flats Campgrounds. There are also a few primitive sites along Clear Creek.
Phone service: There is no phone service at the campground, but there is a pay phone at Lowman less than 4 miles away.
Nearby Services: Sourdough Lodge up the Payette River offers food, gas, pop, ice and other supplies as well as dinner. One could drive west on the Banks/ Lowman Road to Garden Valley, Idaho.
RV Dumping Site: None in this area.
Location/Driving instructions: From Boise, take Hwy 55 N to Banks where you will turn right onto the Banks/ Lowman Road. Follow it to Lowman and turn left onto Hwy 21. Turn left immediately onto Forest Road #582. Follow Forest Road 582 3.6 miles north to Park Creek Campground on the right. The road at Lowman is not well marked.
