Name: Deadwood Campground
Deadwood Campground is located at the confluence of the Deadwood River and the South Fork of the Payette River. We were there in July and it was hot and dry. The forest is mature but thin, offering only partial shade. There is no privacy as the canyon is narrow. With two rivers and a road, there is limited space for a campground. On the other hand, there are two rivers to fish or float and a major trail to hike, Deadwood Trail. It is a popular hike starting at Deadwood Reservoir. The hikers are dropped off at the reservoir and travel down the trail while their driver travels back to Deadwood Campground to camp and wait for the hikers. I estimate it is a 20 mile hike or so.

Additional Camping Opportunities: Pine Flats Campground, Park Creek Campground, Mountain View Campground are nearby and there are a few free primitive sites scattered about the area. There are many of these free primitive camping sites up the Payette River past Lowman a few miles.
Phone service: There is no phone service at Deadwood Campground, but there is a pay phone at Lowman just 3.1 miles up the Payette River.
Nearby Services: The services in Lowman are very limited. For gas, pop, ice and other supplies, one would need to travel west down the Banks Lowman Rd 19.7 miles to Garden Valley, or drive east to Hwy 21 to Sourdough Lodge, a total of 14.6 miles up river.
RV Dumping Site: No RV dumping station.
Location/Driving instructions: From Garden Valley, Idaho, travel 19.7 miles east on the Banks Lowman Rd. The campground will be on the left.
