Keenes Horse Campground

Name: Keenes Horse Campground

I visited Keenes Horse Campground on July 11, 2013 and these are my observations from that visit.

Keenes Horse Campground is set in the heavily forests Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This is beautiful green country with many trails for you to ride. Mount Adams is only a few miles to the southeast. The elevation here is about 4370 feet.

Campsites: There are 14 campsites, each are large enough for your horse trailer and small RV. The road and driveways are gravel. The road in is rough, it would wise to know the road before bring your RV in to avoid damage. There is a picnic table and fire ring also. The campground also uses a "high line" horse system for hitching.

Host on Site: No host on site but an Attendant will be in the campground at least once per day.

Water: Water is available for the stock but is not intended for human consumption.

Garbage Services: Yes, you will find garbage cans near the outhouses.

Electricity Available: No.

Restroom: There are 2 vault style outhouses which are kept very clean.

Handicap Accessible: The outhouses are handicap accessible.

Firewood: Firewood is available from the attendant, it cost $6 per bundle in 2013.

Pets: Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash.

Picnic Area: No.

Recreation: This campground is designed for you to bring your horses and go trail riding. I have included a map of these trails in our Horseshoe Lake review.

Fishing: Fishing is available in the nearby streams and lakes.

Boating: No.

Swimming: No.

Wildlife: Deer and elk live in these woods as do black bear. Bear were sighted in the area in 2013 but none in a campground.

Phone service: No phone service available.

Nearby Services: Also Randle.

Gas and Food: You will need to come prepared since Randle, WA would be your closest source of food, gas or services.

RV Dumping Site: The nearest is at Randle, WA.
