West Mountain Campground

Name: West Mountain Campground

West Mountain Campground is located on the western shore of Cascade Lake with West Mountain almost directly to the west. It is a loop in Lake Cascade State Park. West Mountain Campground has a park like setting with pine trees scattered about the campsites and is covered with well trimmed lawn. The roads and driveways are all paved.

Campsites: There are 27 RV / tent camping sites, each has a picnic table, fire ring with attached grill and a barbecue stand. There are 8 pull-thru sites, 5 "companion" sites and 2 handicap equipped sites.

Host on Site: Yes, they were located in camping site 139.

Water: The water is on a pressurized system and has good flavor.

Garbage Services: Yes.

Electricity Available: No, except for campsite 151 which is a handicap equipped site.

Restroom: The restroom is situated right in the middle of West Mountain Campground. While it has flushing toilets and electric lights, the toilets are badly stained and the place felt dirty.

Handicap Accessible: The campground is handicap friendly.

Firewood: Firewood may be bought from a stand near the host's camping site for $6.00 per bundle.

Pets: Pets are allowed but are required to be on a leash or in a cage if outside your RV.

Picnic Area: None.

Fishing: Fishing is available in Cascade Lake for trout, large and smallmouth bass, perch and Northern Pikeminnow. A few years ago I witnessed a four pound trout caught from the bank.

Boating: Boating facilities are available at Buttercup Campground just up the road to the north.

Swimming: Swimming is a popular activity during July and August as the daytime temps reach into the 90s.

Wildlife: Black bear live here so use caution storing your food and disposing of your garbage. There are deer near the campground and birds as well as small woodland critters all around.

Phone service: No pay phone here, but we had good reception on our ATT phones.

Nearby Services: Donnelly is a short drive away for most camping supplies like gas, propane, food and fishing supplies.

RV Dumping Site: Yes, West Mountain Campground has an RV dumping station on the north edge of the grounds. It is accessed from the highway.

Fees And Reservations: These camping sites may be reserved at reserveamerica.com. "Search" for Lake Cascade State Park, then choose West Mountain from the drop-down window in the left column. Reserve early for July or August. The "companion" sites are $29.68 per day, singles are $14.84 and your extra vehicle is $8.48. For day use there is a $5.00 fee.
