Federal Gulch Campground is located along the East Fork of the Big Wood River about 4 miles from the 10,563 ft. Gray's Peak in the Pioneer Mountains. Sun Valley and Ketchum, Idaho, are only fifteen miles or so to the northwest. Federal Gulch Trail #169 leads from here past Gray's Peak and to points beyond. If you follow the road past Federal Gulch Campground, it takes you toward Sunshine and Mascot Mines.
Campsites: We found 3 campsites but there is room for primitive camping opportunities. One site only had a fire ring while two others had one or two picnic tables. The two with tables are in a grassy meadow along the river while the other one is under the trees next to the trail.
