Painted Rock Campground

Rattlesnake Warning. I think this is more of a standard warning rather than an indication of a problem.

Name: Painted Rock Campground

Painted Rock Petroglyph Site and Campground is set on mostly level ground around the two mounds of rock that ancient people chose to etch many figures and simple pictures on.The desert is scattered with barrel and seguaro cactus. There is grass and low brush as well as a few short trees between the cactus and rocks. Sunset was beautiful. Take a look at the last picture on the recreation page.

Campsites: There are 60 campsites and 2 group areas on the flats around the mounds of "painted rock". The roads and driveways are gravel. The campsite are equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. If you want to use a BBQ grill you can find them at the shelters.

Host on Site: It appeared there was a site for a host but it was empty.

Restroom: Both vault style outhouses are handicap accessible. They were clean and had toilet paper at the time of our visit. The outhouse near the shelters even had a light inside.
