The information in this review is from our observations and was correct as of the date of our visit.

Name: Atlatl_Campground

Atlatl Campground is set among bright red Aztec sandstone outcroppings in the Valley of Fire State Park. There are 44 campsites offering easy access to the scenic and historic features of the park.

Campsites: Atlatl Campground has 44 campsites, all roads and driveways are gravel. Each comes with a covered picnic table, fire ring and barbecue grill except 20, 21 and 22 which are walk-in sites for tent campers only. The fee for these campsites was $20.00 per day. Sites 23 through 44 offer water and electrical hookups but cost $10 more.

Water: Yes both from faucets and from hookups in campsites 23 through 44.

Garbage Services: Yes, in locations scattered about the campground.

Electricity Available: Yes, in campsites 23 through 44.

Restroom: The restrooms have flushing toilets and lavs.

Handicap Accessible: Campsite 6 is handicap equipped as well as the restrooms.

Firewood: I saw firewood available for purchase at the Visitor Center. They charged $7 per bundle in 2020.

Pets: Yes but must be on a leash.

Picnic Area: There are serveral picnic areas in the park but not in Atlatl Campground.

Recreation: Checkout our review of the Valley of Fire State Park for recreational opportunities.

Hiking: There are numerous trails to hike. Such as the trail to Mouse's Tank at 3/4 mile round trip or the White Dome loop at 1.25 miles. Longer trails exist, stop in at the Visitor's Center for a brochure and map.

Wildlife: We saw one desert sheep near the east entrance to the park. There are birds and lizards as well as rabbits, coyotes and other wildlife nearby but most are noctural.

Additional Camping Opportunities: There is one other campgorund in the Valley of Fire State Park - Arch Rock Campground.

Phone service: Cell service is spotty most likely at the east or west entrance or in the White Dome area.

Gas and Food: The town of Overton is about 17 miles to the east. Follow this GoogleMap to find your way to Overton for groceries, gas and other services.

RV Dumping Site: Yes, the RV dump station is located on the road between the two campgrounds.

Nearest Shower: The restrooms have showers.

Location/Driving instructions: I have included a link to a GoogleMap from Las Vegas to help you find your way.
