Name: Spring Bar Campground
Spring Bar Campground is along the beautiful Salmon River in the Nez Perce National Forest a little over 10 miles upstream from Riggins, Idaho. This is a very well maintained Campground with grooming throughout. Paved roads and parking along with the variety of plant life surrounding this campground make this a lovely place to stay. There are wild blackberries and apple trees scattered about and a variety of pines and locust trees. The elevation is low so they will have very warm summers. They are proud to call themselves a "green" campground. The water here is pressurized by solar power.
Campsites: Spring Bar Campground has 17 camping sites. 3 are pull through, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Park sites average 54 feet in length. The camping sites have some seclusion and privacy, however some are more open. There is adequate long parking for RVs.
Water: Drinking water is available throughout Spring Bar Campground with pressurized water powered by solar power.
Garbage Services: There is a RV waste station at Crumps's Chevron gas station in Riggins, Idaho, 12 miles away.
Restroom: The restrooms are the vault/outhouse style, clean and well maintained.
Handicap Accessible: The restrooms are handicap accessible along with a handicap site.
Pets: Pets must be on a leash in Spring Bar Campground.
Picnic Area: Allison Creek has a real nice picnic area next to this campground.
Recreation: There is fishing in the Salmon River, along with rafting and kayaking.
Fishing: There are steelhead and other trout, bass, plus mountain whitefish in the Salmon River.
Boating: Spring Bar is the main boat ramp to access the Salmon River, non-motorized without permit.
Wildlife: Could be rattlesnakes in the area but nothing was said about them.
Phone service: No public phone and no cell reception.
Nearby Services: Riggins, Idaho, is the nearest services. It is only about 12 miles.
Location/Driving instructions: From Riggins, ID, on Hwy 95 at National Forest Access sign, take Big Salmon Road east and go 6.5 miles to bridge. Bear left across bridge onto Forest Route 1614 and go 3.9 miles to Spring Bar Campground sign. Bear left at sign into campground.
