Name: Sockeye Campground
Sockeye Campground is one of the newest addition to the Redfish Lake area. As part of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, the campground enjoys beautiful views of the Sawtooth Mountains and easy access to some wonderful backpacking country. There is a trail heading south from the south end of the campground. You might enjoy a hike on it.
Campsites: Sockeye Campground has 20 RV campsites. I call them RV sites as there are no tent squares. The roads and driveways are paved and there is a cement pad in which the picnic table, cooking table, and fire ring are set.
Host on Site: There is a host but we did not meet them.
Water: Sockeye Campground also enjoys a pressurized water system with okay flavor.
Garbage Services: Garbage service is available in bear resistant containers.
Restroom: Vault style outhouses which were clean and well stocked.
Handicap Accessible: The toilets are handicap accessible but one would want to choose the right site as many have stairs separating the driveway from the table area.
Firewood: Firewood is available through the camp host for $6.00 per bundle.
Pets: Pets are allowed in the campground on a leash only.
Recreation: Boating, swimming, and horseback riding are available but at the other locations. All three of these activities can be check out at our Redfish Lake area page.
Fishing: Redfish Lake is stocked with trout and there is a Kokanee run. Check the fishing regulations.
Hiking: There are many hiking trails near Redfish Lake. Take a look at our hike to the Bench Lakes.
Wildlife: You might see a deer wandering about the campground. We saw one on our way through. Bear live here so use caution with your food and garbage.
Additional Camping Opportunities: Check out the other seven campgrounds in Redfish Lake area.
Phone service: We didn't have reception with our ATT cell phones, but there is a pay phone at the Central Services area.
Nearby Services: For ice, pop, candy, propane, gas, laundry, a shower or other services, you might need to check out the central services area. For the things you don't find there, Stanley, Idaho, is only about 8 miles away.
RV Dumping Site: There is an RV dumping station at the central services area.
Location/Driving instructions: From Stanley, Idaho, travel south on Hwy 75 about 4 miles to turn right on the Redfish Lake Road. Drive about 4 more miles to the campground which is at the end of the road.
