Name: Beaver Creek Campground

Beaver Creek Campground is newly remodeled and situated on the west bank of Beaver Creek about 22 miles NW of Stanley, Idaho. The campground is on the flat, open ground along the creek with little to no shade. It is surrounded by a mature forest. With a 6500 foot elevation, one would expect it to be fairly cool. However, we found it to be rather on the hot side in July.

Campsites: There are 12 RV camping sites. Most could be use by tent campers as well. Each site is equipped with a metal picnic table and a fire pit with grill. The road and driveways are gravel.

Host on Site: No host.

Water: Beaver Creek Campground has an older, hand-pump equipped well for potable water. I didn't taste it.

Garbage Services: According to Challis National Forest website, there is garbage service, but we saw no garbage cans or dumpster.

Restroom: There was a new, vault style outhouse which was very clean.

Handicap Accessible: The new, vault style outhouses are handicap accessible but the rest of the campground is not.

Firewood: There is no firewood available. You will need to provide your own.

Pets: Pets are allowed on a leash only.

Picnic Area: None

Recreation: Recreation at or near Beaver Creek includes fishing, camping, photography, bird watching, wildlife viewing, ATVs, bike riding, horseback riding and much more. There is a trailhead near the campground that leads to Ruffneck Peak to the north.

Fishing: Fishing is allowed, but check the regulations for restrictions. If you like lake fishing, Cape Horn Lakes are about a mile east as the crow flies. Drive south toward Hwy 21 and watch for Forest Rd 003 on your left.

Boating: No.

Swimming: Beaver Creek runs near the campground but it is too small for swimming. One might check out Cape Horn Lakes just a couple mile east on forest road 003 for swimming opportunities.

Wildlife: With the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area near, one could easily see deer, elk, bear, moose, wolves and many other wild animals.

Additional Camping Opportunities: Check out our reviews of these nearby campgrounds; Lola Creek, Marsh Creek, Banner Creek, Bull Trout, Fir Creek and Thatcher Creek campgrounds. There are also primitive camp sites scattered about. I noticed campers along Seafoam Rd. as we were driving to Beaver Creek Campground.

Phone service: No phone at the campground nor was there reception for our AT cell phones.

Nearby Services: Stanley is the nearest location for camping supplies and is about 22 miles SE.

RV Dumping Site: Stanley, Idaho, is the nearest location to find an RV dumping station.

Location/Driving instructions: From Stanley, Idaho, travel 18.0 miles NW on Hwy 21 to turn right onto Lola Creek Campground Road. Take the first right onto Cape Horn Road and travel .4 miles where you will turn left onto Seafoam Road. Beaver Creek Campground is about 1.8 miles north on Seafoam Road to the right.
