Name: Big Trinity Lake Campground

This review was made from the information we observed from our visit on August 30, 2021 and was accurate as of that date.

Big Trinity Lake Campground stretches most of the way around the lake and most of the campsites are on the shoreline. This is a very popular campground so come early although that may not help. We were here on a Thursday in late July and found no campsites available. I suppose it's popularity comes from the variety of activities(ATVs, fishing, hiking all from the campground) and it's remote location. You don't find many large trailers here.

Campsites: There are 17 campsites all are designed for tent camping. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with attached grate and most if not all have a tent square. The roads are gravel/dirt and the campsites are dirt. There are alot of trees but not every campsite is fully shaded.

Host on Site: No

Water: Yes there are 2 hand pump equipped wells.

Garbage Services: No

Electricity Available: No

Restroom: There are 3 vault style outhouses which where clean and stocked with toilet paper both times I visited in 2021.

Handicap Accessible: Not really.

Firewood: No

Pets: Pets must be kept on a leash.

Picnic Area: There is a day-use area on the south end of the lake but i didn't see any table. There is a "picnic" area at Little Trinity Lake but only 1 or 2 tables there.

Recreation: On site there is, of course, camping and fishing, hiking and in the area trail riding(ATVs).

Fishing: There are trout in the lakes and streams nearby. I didn't catch anything but I saw a couple fish caught from the lake.

Boating: Non-motorized only.

Swimming: There is no developed swimming area but several people were swimming, tubing and playing on they're rafts or paddle boards.

Hiking: There are 2 trails I have hiked. The easy one is 1.2 miles and goes around Big Trinity Lake. The other goes over a ridge to Rainbow Basin. There are several lakes to explore.

Wildlife: There are deer(lots of them), moose(several), elk, bear and other wildlife in this area.

Additional Camping Opportunities: There are 3 campgrounds near Trinity Mountain. Big Trinity Lake Campground, Big Roaring River Lake Campground and Little Roaring River Lake Campground.

Gas and Food: There is gas and goceries available from the store in Pine and a cafe or 2 between Featherville and Pine.

Location/Driving instructions: This is the route i took from Mountain Home, Idaho.I personally wouldn't pull a trailer in here but some do.

Fees And Reservations: Big Trinity Lake Campground is a first come first serve facility and may not be reserved. As of August 2021 the single site cost $10 per day.
