Name: Troutdale Forest Camp
Troutdale Forest Camp is located on the Middle Fork of the Boise River just above the split between the North Fork and the Middle Fork. On the Middle Fork the river is smaller than on the Boise River and if possible, more picturesque. Troutdale is at a bend in the river so the river curves around the campground. This country is fully covered with a mature pine forest. It is beautiful country for hiking, biking, four wheeling and horseback riding. Still most people come here to fish and camp. You will certainly find a prospector or two mixed in along this stretch of the river.
Campsites: There are four RV / tent camping sites. The camp is open and spacious, large RVs would easily fit in here. However, the road in would probably stop most people. Each site has a picnic table with a fire pit and a separate barbecue.
Water: Bring your own drinking water as there is none available here.
Garbage Services: No garbage service, pack it out with you.
Restroom: There is one newer vault style outhouse here. It was clean and well maintained at our visit.
Handicap Accessible: For a fairly remote camping site, this camp would be one of the more handicap accessible campgrounds because it is more open and level. However, the toilet is the only thing actually handicap accessible.
Pets: Pets on a leash please.
Fishing: Fishing is available in the Boise River and both the Middle and North Forks of the Boise River. At its elevation, trout (hence the name "Troutdale") would be the fish of choice, mainly rainbow.
Boating: No boating, dock or ramp.
Swimming: Swimming in the Boise River would certainly be an option, however, use your own judgment on the safety factors.
Wildlife: This area is home to mule deer, rocky mountain elk, black bear and many other wildlife species.
Phone service: No phone or cell service is available in Troutdale Camp.
Nearby Services: Nearest services are available at the Twin Springs Resort only 6 miles down river. You will find ice, pop, phone, etc. at the very quaint resort.
RV Dumping Site: No.
Location/Driving instructions: From Boise, take Hwy 21 NE 18 miles to Spring Shores Rd/Arrowrock Rd/Road 268. Follow it NE 32 miles to the camp. From Boise, Idaho check this GoogleMap.
