Name: Summit Lake Campground
Summit Lake Campground is situated on the pass between Warm Lake and Landmark, east of Cascade, Idaho. The elevation is 7291 feet so the evenings are cool even in the dog days of summer. Summit Lake Campground is a nice high mountain lake and is only 200 to 300 hundred yards from the campground. The down side is the mosquitos. I have never been anywhere that there were as many mosquitoes as here. We have tried to camp here twice and were driven away before we could even set up camp. They are so thick I have breathed in several even with a hand over my mouth.
Campsites: There are 3 campsites here and are not suitable for a larger RV. The road and sites are dirt with a picnic table and fire pit.
Host on Site: No.
Garbage Services: None, pack it out.
Electricity Available: No.
Restroom: There is an old outhouse in the campground and a nice vault style outhouse by the road.
Handicap Accessible: The outhouse by the road is handicap accessible but nothing else is.
Firewood: You should bring your own.
Pets: Pets are allowed but please be considerate of your fellow campers and use a leash. Watch for wolves!
Picnic Area: None.
Recreation: Fishing, hiking, swatting mosquitos, photography, biking...
Fishing: Yes, at Summit Lake but I found it to be very poor. It seemed there were very few fish of any size.
Wildlife: Deer, elk, bear, wolves, elk, moose and many others.
Additional Camping Opportunities: There are other undeveloped sites one could forge into a campsite, but I have never seen anyone camping this area other than for hunting.
Phone service: Nearest pay phone is at Warm Lake.
Nearby Services: Services such as ice, pop, gas, mosquito spray (I hope), food, and even dinner is available at Warm Lake Lodge.
RV Dumping Site: The nearest one is in Cascade, Idaho.
Location/Driving instructions: Traveling north from Cascade, Idaho, on Hwy 55 watch for Warm Lake Road on your right side just a few hundred yards out of town. Follow Warm Lake Road for 32 miles (6 miles past Warm Lake Lodge. Where you will see the campground sign on the left at the top of a long, steep hill. This road is paved the entire way.
