Name: Slate Creek Recreation Site

Slate Creek Campground is along the Salmon River 10 miles downstream from Riggins. Graveled roadways and parking spaces are throughout the campground. The campground is sparsely brushed with pine trees. It is a little open and rustic, with adequate facilities and great river access.

Campsites: Each camping site has a picnic table on a cement slab and a fire ring. There is at least one site with a pull through driveway.

Water: Yes, there is clean pressurized water

Garbage Services: Yes, there is a garbage can at each camping site.

Restroom: Restrooms are vault style outhouse at the picnic area only, but it is a short walk away from the camping sites.

Handicap Accessible: Yes.

Firewood: No firewood available at the campground.

Pets: Pets must be on a leash.

Picnic Area: Yes, there is a nice picnic area complete with covered tables, extra shade trees and restroom.

Recreation: Rafting, fishing, and picnicking.

Fishing: River access for some great fishing.

Boating: There is a boat launch at the campground with adequate parking.

Swimming: Not recommended.

Wildlife: We saw a whitetail buck and doe on the slope across from the river.

Phone service: No pay phone and no cell reception.

Nearby Services: Pretty much any service will be available at Riggins, 20 miles south on Highway 95 or 9.7 miles North on Highway 95 to the town of Whitebird, Idaho.

RV Dumping Site: Yes.

Location/Driving instructions: From Riggins, Idaho take Highway 95 North 19.7 miles to Slate Creek Recreation Site.
