Name: Picnic Point Campground
Picnic Point is a walk in only tent camping campground. Campers will need to pack in their gear from 50 to 200 feet. Most sites offer a view of Warm Lake. The parking area, paths, and sites are all dirt/gravel. The campground is set in a ponderosa pine forest, offering partial shade. There are wood staircases providing access to the lake.
Campsites: 8 tent only camp sites, most have tent squares. All campsites have a picnic table, fire ring and grill.
Host on Site: The host for Shoreline Campground also serves as host for Picnic Point Campground.
Water: Potable water is available.
Garbage Services: Garbage service is available in bear resistant containers. There are many bear in this area so use caution with your food storage and garbage disposal!
Restroom: The vault style outhouse is clean and well stocked.
Handicap Accessible: The outhouse is handicap accessible but the campground would be a challenge.
Firewood: Firewood may be purchased at the Northshore Lodge just a short walk away.
Pets: Pets must be on a leash.
Recreation: Swimming, camping, fishing, boating, hiking, wildlife viewing, ATV riding and much more in this area.
Fishing: Picnic Point is the only campground actually located on the shore of Warm Lake, so access for fishing is better here than elsewhere. Warm Lake is stocked with trout.
Boating: There are no boating facilities at Picnic Point. There is a boat ramp near Shoreline Campground, and boats may be rented from either Northshore Lodge or Warm Lake Lodge.
Swimming: There is a beach just to the west of Picnic Point Campground, but there is no lifeguard or marked area.
Wildlife: Deer, bear and moose are commonly seen at Warm Lake.
Additional Camping Opportunities: There are two other tent / RV campgrounds at Warm Lake: Shoreline Campground and Warm Lake Campground. If you are interested in primitive camping, there are many "hunting" campsites along the roads in this area.
Phone service: There is a pay phone at Northshore Lodge a short walk away. We had no cell reception.
Nearby Services: Basic camping and fishing supplies may be purchased at Northshore Lodge which is situated next door to the campground. Ice, pop, candy and food are also available from either Northshore Lodge or Warm Lake Lodge.
Location/Driving instructions: From Cascade, Idaho, travel north out of town on Hwy 55 about one half mile, take a right turn on Warm Lake Road. Continue on Warm Lake Road 26 miles to Northshore Drive which is also a right turn. The campground is less than a mile on Northshore Dr. on the left.
