Moose Creek Reservoir Campgrounds

Name: Moose Creek Reservoir Campgrounds

Moose Creek Reservoir is surrounded by gently rolling hills in Northern Idaho. The country is heavily forested with pines and underbrush. Grass covers anything left uncovered. It is beautiful to a greenery starved desert dweller such as myself. The high temperatures in the summer range up to 90 to 92 degrees.

Campsites: There are 24 camping sites, most can handle an RV or tent camper. They each have a fire ring and picnic table. Some of the lake sites have a dock for fishing or swimming. In the campground most sites have a lantern pole.

Water: There is water through a couple hand pumps and it is clear without metallic flavor.

Garbage Services: Yes.

Restroom: There are several vault style outhouses around the lake. Most of them were clean and well kept, but a couple of them are rather old.

Handicap Accessible: Somewhat.

Pets: Pets must be kept on a leash.

Fishing: Moose Creek Reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout. According to the camp host, there are also bass, crappie and bluegill.

Boating: Electric motors only.

Swimming: The lake lends itself well to swimming, but please be considerate of the fishermen.

Wildlife: It is called MOOSE Creek, however I wouldn't count on seeing a moose. Whitetail deer, yes, and we saw a beaver dam on the creek below the lake.

Phone service: No cell or pay phone at the lake, but Bovill is only a couple miles away.

Nearby Services: Gas, ice and such in Bovill, just a couple miles away.

RV Dumping Site: No.

Location/Driving instructions: Moose Creek Reservoir Campground is located just west of Bovill on Highway 8. Watch for the sign, then follow the dirt road a couple miles.
