Name: Luby Bay Campground
Luby Bay Campground is divided into Upper Luby Bay Campground and Lower Luby Bay Campground. They are situated on the west shore of Priest Lake and are heavily wooded with mature trees. Lower Luby Bay Campground is on Priest Lake and has the Picnic Area. Lower Luby Bay has 25 RV camping sites. Seven sites are on a first come first serve basis, and the other eighteen are reservable. By looking at the map, you can see there are two loops in Lower Luby. The lower one is on the lake but is very open (no privacy) and the sites are close together. However, this is a beautiful setting.
Campsites: 25 total sites; 18 are reservable while 7 are available on a first come, first served basis. They all have paved driveways, a picnic table and a fire ring. These sites could be used by either an RV camper or a tent camper.
Water: There is water available in various locations throughout the campground. It is pressurized and tastes good.
Garbage Services: Garbage disposal is available in bearwise cans throughout the campground.
Restroom: The restrooms are nice with flushing toilets and a sink. There are no showers.
Handicap Accessible: This is a handicap accessible campground.
Pets: Only on a leash.
Recreation: The main attraction is the lake whether you swim, fish, boat, or just want to sun bathe. There is also hiking in the surrounding mountains.
Fishing: Fishing is available in Priest Lake, Priest River, and many streams in the area. Check our fishing regulations link.
Boating: The boat ramp is down the road at the Idaho Fish and Game facilities. There is no dock at the campground, but I saw two boats anchored by the swimming area.
Wildlife: There are deer in the area and one could easily wander through camp. This is bear country so take precautions with your food and garbage.
Additional Camping Opportunities: Outlet Campground, Upper Luby Bay, Osprey, Reeder Bay, Indian Creek Loop(Priest Lake State Park) and Lionhead Loop(Priest Lake State Park).
Phone service: Although there is no pay phone at the campground, we had reception on our ATT cell phones.
Nearby Services: Ice, gas, pop and other services are available at Nordman, only a few miles away on Hwy 57 or in Priest River to the south.
RV Dumping Site: The dumping station is in Upper Luby Bay Campground just across the road.
Location/Driving instructions: From Priest River, Idaho, travel 28.6 miles north on Hwy 57 turning right onto Luby Bay Rd for another 1.4 miles. Turn left onto W. Lakeshore Rd for another .7 miles. The campground will be on the right side of the road. GoogleMaps
