Grayback Gulch Campground

Name: Grayback Gulch Campground

Grayback Gulch Campground is along the hill above Mores Creek. Many paths and trails are perfect for hiking or for your ATVs. This is a very nicely developed campground. Paved roads throughout and cleared out underbrush along with the pine trees give this campground a civilized look while maintaining the rugged charm of the wilderness. Grayback Gulch is scheduled to have a camp host, however the forest service is having a hard time finding a host this year.

Campsites: There are 2 double camping sites, 16 single camping sites, and 2 group camping sites. The group sites should be able to accommodate 100 - 150 people. Single sites have a picnic table, fire ring with grill and lantern pole. The doubles just have two driveways.

Water: There is drinking water from two newer hand crank pump equipped wells.

Garbage Services: Yes!

Restroom: There are two log cabin vault style toilets.

Handicap Accessible: Grayback Gulch Campground is handicap accessible.

Pets: Pets on a leash only.

Fishing: Trout fishing is available in Mores Creek.

Boating: There is no boating type activity in this area.

Swimming: There really isn't swimming at the campground. Mores Creek is just down the hill and one may find a place to play in it.

Wildlife: You are likely to see mule deer wandering near the campground in the early morning or late evening hours.

Phone service: There is no phone at the campground but Idaho City is just a couple miles away. We had no cell phone reception on our ATT phones.

Nearby Services: Idaho city is less than two miles away and offers convenience stores, gas, shopping and restaurants.

RV Dumping Site: None at the campground, however there is a dumping site in Idaho City.

Location/Driving instructions: Travel SW on Highway 21 less then two miles from Idaho City. Grayback Gulch is on the left.
