Glover Campground

Name: Glover Campground

The entrance to Glover Campground is located where Selway Road crosses Glover Creek. You drive along the creek then turn sharply to the left and climb up a hill. Most of the sites are on a grassy hill overlooking the Selway River. The surrounding mountains are heavily forested with a variety of trees and brush. Glover Campground was once a nice campground but has not been maintained well. As you can see from our pictures, two sites are still good.

Campsites: There are 8 or 9 camping sites of which 5 or 6 still have a picnic table and fire ring intact. The road and driveways are gravel. Due to the sharp corner as one leaves the creek and the smaller size of the sites, I would recommend smaller RVs only .

Host on Site: No.

Water: No potable water available.

Garbage Services: No.

Electricity Available: No.

Restroom: There is a vault style outhouse which was clean and well stocked.

Handicap Accessible: Outhouse, yes; campground, no.

Firewood: You will need to provide your own firewood.

Pets: No pet stipulations.

Picnic Area: No, but the campground is free so feel free to picnic at any open site.

Recreation: Camping and fishing are the main attractions. Near Glover Campground there are 2 trails, one leads NW toward Roundtop Mountain (6807 feet), and the other to the NE up Glover Ridge. It is possible, according to my map, to hike a loop up one and back down the other.

Fishing: Fishing is available in the Selway River for salmon, steelhead and trout. The creeks such as Glover Creek are also available but it would be a challenge to find fishable water. However, I have found some of the best fishing is to be had in some of those hard to fish spots.

Boating: No.

Swimming: Swim the Selway River at your own risk.

Wildlife: Whitetail deer, elk and bear would be the most common big game animals here but there are also moose, fox, squirrels, wolves and a multitude of birds. I found it fascinating to watch the salmon jump Selway Falls. Check out my pictures on the Selway River Area page.

Additional Camping Opportunities: Check out the Selway River Area Campgrounds for nearby campgrounds which we have reviewed.

Phone service: No. One would have to travel back to Lowell or Kooskia, Idaho to find a pay phone or get reception on their cell phones.

Nearby Services: Your nearest camping supplies can be found at Lowell, Idaho just 14 miles down stream or or at Kooskia, Idaho about 36 miles west on Hwy 12.

RV Dumping Site: The nearest RV dumping station is found at Wilderness Gateway Campground on the Lochsa River.

Location/Driving instructions: Glover Campground is approximately 14 miles up the Selway River from Lowell, Idaho. Check this Google map. It is only a couple miles past 25 Mile Bar Campground.
