Name: Blowout Campground
Blowout Campground is situated on a hill on the north shore of Palisades Reservoir. The forest is mature and provides ample shade on hot summer days. However if you get too warm, the reservoir is nearby and there is a spacious boat launch. If the water level is a bit low but there is a decent beach by the boat launch.
Campsites: There are 15 campsites equipped with a picnic table and fire pit with attached grate in loop A on the hill. There is another 15 sites or so near the boat launch which are not fullly developed, but do offer access to the lake and have water and an outhouse available. There is limited shade for these campsites. A few elm trees are growing along the shoreline.
Host on Site: The host is located in loop A near the entrance.
Water: The water from the pressurized system was cool, clear and fairly free of taste.
Garbage Services: There is garbage service available in bear resistant dumpsters.
Electricity Available: No
Restroom: The vault style outhouses were clean and well stocked at the time of our visit.
Handicap Accessible: The outhouses were handicap accessible.
Firewood: Firewood may be purchased from the camp host for $6 per bundle.
Pets: Pets are allowed but as usual must be kept on a leash.
Picnic Area: There were people picnicking at the sites by the boat launch.
Recreation: Camping, fishing and boating are the primary activities at Blowout Campground and there are many trails in the mountains nearby for hiking.
Fishing: Fishing is available in Palisades Reservoir for cutthroat trout, both native and stocked, Kokanee salmon, and brown and Mackinaw trout.
Boating: There is a large boat launch with extra parking on site.
Swimming: There is no "swimming area" but many people swim to cool off.
Wildlife: Deer, elk, moose, grizzly and black bear live in these woods. Osprey and bald eagles fish the reservoir and can be seen on a regular basis.

Phone service: No pay phone but we had good cell service with our ATT phones.
Nearby Services: Alpine, Wy is your closest location for supplies like gas, food, fishing supplies and such.
RV Dumping Site: There is a handy RV dump station at Riverside Park just below the dam.
