Recreation: Floating, rafting and kayaking the Coeur d'Alene River as well as fly fishing for cutthroat trout are the primary activities. However there are trails to hike, Fern Shadow Falls to view and any photographer would find many worthy subject to shoot. I found this rafting outfitter but am sure there are others.
Fishing: Fishing is available in the Coeur d'Alene River. I didn't fish but I hear the fly fishing for cutthroat trout is great. Check the regulation here.
Boating: Rafting and kayaking is available downstream where you will find class I to class III rapids.
Swimming: There is no swimming area but the river is available to float or wade in.
Wildlife: We saw a moose at Devil's Elbow Campground and they would live here also. This is bear country so proper disposal of your garbage and storage of your food is important. One could expect deer and you could bump into elk as well.
