Name: Abbot Campground

Abbot Campground is set on flat land along the South Fork of the Boise River east of Featherville, Idaho. The campground is forested but the trees are spaced out with little under brush. This area has many trails which allow motorized travel so it is very popular for trail riding.

Campsites: There are 7 sites for camping, each offers a picnic table and fire ring with attached grill. The road and driveways are gravel. Campsite 1 is at the entrance and offers no privacy. Sites 2 and 3 have long driveways and are set next to the river. Sites 4 and 5 are at the end of that loop and are nearest to the bridge that crosses the river and offers access to trails to the south. 6 is also near the entrance and offers the most sun. Site 7 is at the east end of the campground, has an extra large picnic table and offers the most privacy, except the road runs near it.

Water: No.

Garbage Services: There is a garbage dumpster.

Electricity Available: No.

Restroom: There is a vault style outhouse which was clean and well stocked.

Handicap Accessible: The only thing handicap accessible in the campground is the outhouse.

Firewood: You will need to provide your own.

Pets: Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Picnic Area: No.

Recreation: Camping, fishing and trail riding are the most popular recreations at Abbot Campground.

Fishing: The Boise River offers fishing for trout, whitefish and kokanee salmon. Check the regulations for seasons and limits.

Boating: No.

Swimming: No.

Wildlife: This is black bear country so use caution with the disposal of your garbage and storage of your food. There are also deer, elk, wolves and other smaller animals as well as birds living nearby.

Phone service: No phone service here. Featherville has a pay phone available.

Nearby Services: Featherville, Idaho offers the nearest source for camping supplies. From the conversation I had with one gentleman, the services offered at Featherville are growing. Currently one can buy gas, eat at the cafe, visit a bar, buy food and small supplies and find lodging.

RV Dumping Site: I have not found an RV dumping station in this area. If you know of one please email its location to ICRroger@gmail.com
