Name: Silver City Recreation Site
Silver City Recreation Site is situated on both sides of Jordan Creek on the south edge of Silver City. It offers a place to tent camp or park a small RV/trailer while visiting the historic Silver City. You would likely not come here for the camping as the site is rough and would likely be either dry and dusty or wet and muddy. But take a look at the pictures and make up your own mind. I found no indication of a fee to camp here.
Campsites: There are six campsites each has a picnic table and fire ring with attached grate. The first three are on the near side of Jordan Creek while the other three are accessed by crossing a fairly steep creek crossing. The roads and driveways are gravel/dirt. The creek crossing would be interesting if Jordan Creek were running high. The first two sites have little to no shade as well as one on the other side of the creek while the other three have some if not alot of shade from cottonwood trees or tall willow brush.
Host on Site: No
Garbage Services: There was a garbage can near the entrance.
Electricity Available: No
Restroom: There was a vault style outhouse which was stocked with toilet paper and reasonably clean at the time of our visit.
Handicap Accessible: Absolutely not.
Pets: Nothing was mentioned about pets infact there were no signs indicating any rules.
Recreation: Visiting historic Silver City and exploring the surrounding area on jeeps or ATVs seem to be the most common activities.
Swimming: No, however even in the middle of August Jordan Creek had a little water flowing.
Wildlife: I have seen deer in the area however I am sure other wildlife lives nearby.
Additional Camping Opportunities: There are many primitive sites scattered about the area.
Nearby Services: There are very limited services(a hotel and cafe) in Silver City. No gas and I didn't notice a store either.
Gas and Food: The old historic hotel still offers rooms and has a cafe. However when I stopped to ask questions about the hotel I found the man to be rude and even condescending. I had thought to eat there but we stopped at the "Big Loop" in Jordan Valley where we found fresh appealing food with great service.
RV Dumping Site: No
