Name: Joseph H Stewart State Recreation Area
I visited the Joseph H Stewart State Recreation Area September 16, 2019. This review contains the information, pictures and impressions I gathered then. IdahoCampgroundReview does not own, manage or make reservations for this facility. The locals may call this the Lost Lake State Park. The campground is setting on a fairly level slope on the southern shore of Lost Creek Lake. The shore line is mostly cliffs here but you can drive to the day use area to find a beach. The campground is grassy and well mowed/trimmed. There are a variety of trees including pine, laurel and oak. Most are large mature trees which provide a great deal of shade. However most campsites have both shade and sunlight in them. There are a few that are totally shaded.
Campsites: The campground has 147 RV campsites with water and electrical hookups, 50 tent campsites with water and 2 group sites. The roads and driveways are paved throughout.
Host on Site: I found a camp host in each of the 4 loops, A, B, C and D.
Water: There is water available at every campsite.
Garbage Services: You will find no garbage cans in the campground. Instead there is a trash compactor near the entrance.
Electricity Available: There is electricity in the restrooms and all of the RV campsites have 30 amp hookups.
Restroom: Each loop has a central restroom with flushing toilets and showers.
Handicap Accessible: The park is rather handicap friendly.
Firewood: Firewood maybe purchased from your nearby camp host.
Pets: Pets are allowed but must be kept inside or on a leash. There is a large pet run you can turn your dog loose in for a good run.
Picnic Area: There are multiple picnic areas in the day use area.
Recreation: There is a volleyball court and horseshoe pits, a playground, a day use area with boat launch, docks, fish cleaning station, beach and a store and 11 miles of hiking or biking trails. On top of those activities there are summer programs available also.
Fishing: Fishing is available in Lost Creek Lake, the Rogue River and multiple streams and lakes in the surrounding area.
Boating: Part of the park is a large marina with a boat launch. Whether you want to water ski or fish you have great access.
Swimming: There is a large beach located in the day use area.
Hiking: There are 11 miles of trails in the park.
Wildlife: Deer can be seen in and around the campground. Other wildlife includes black bear, elk and many small woodland critters...
Nearby Services: If you're looking for things like snacks and fishing tackle checkout the store at the marina. If you looking for a bit more you will want to go to Shady Cove.
Gas and Food: There is a small store in the marina but for gas or groceries I think you would want to go to Shady Cove.
RV Dumping Site: There is a RV dumping station available near the entrance.
Nearest Shower: There are showers with hot water in each of the 4 restrooms.
Nearest Laundry: Shady Cove is likely to have a laundry.
