Poison Creek Campground Review
Lake Cascade State Park

Poison Creek Campground is set on the west shore of Cascade Lake at the foot of West Mountain and is a "loop" in Lake Cascade State Park. This is a park type setting with mowed lawns and trees scattered about. It has a boat ramp for access to the lake but it is not a mooring dock, one would need to beach their boat near their campsite. There is a large group shelter which may be reserved for your party events. The day use area is by the boat ramp and has a few tables scattered along the shore.

Campsites:  There are 22 campsites all are RV or tent camping. Each have a paved driveway, picnic table and fire ring with attached grill.

Fee Schedule:
Singles Campsites are $27.56 per day which includes tax and your extra vehicle will be another $8.48. There are no double campsites in Poison Creek Campground. The Group Shelter was $79.50 per day for 2011 and the day use area is $5.00. To enter the park you will be charged $5.00 per car so if you are going to use the showers plan on $5.00 per car and $3.00 per person.

Campground Reservations: Campsites may be reserved through  as a loop in Lake Cascade State Park.

Additional Camping Opportunities:

Host on Site:
There is a host on site. They normally work one campground from opening till mid July then move to another for the remainder of the season so you never know who your host will be.

Electricity Available: Each campsite is equipped with electricity.

Garbage Services: Garbage service is available throughout the campground.

Poison Creek Campground has a pressurized water system with good pressure and taste.

There are three restrooms in Poison Creek Campground; one vault style outhouse near the boat ramp/day use area, another on the north end of the campground and a new flushing toilet in the shower facility located in the center of the campground.

Handicap Accessible: Poison Creek Campground is handicap accessible with three handicap equipped sites; 235, 236 and 237.

Firewood is available through a vendors stand near the host for $6.00 per bundle. There was a rumor ice would be for sale during the hot summer days through the host.

Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash or caged.

Fishing: Fishing is available in Cascade Lake from the bank or by boat. Species include trout, large and small mouth bass, perch and northern pikeminnow.

Boating: Boating is a favorite activity here and Poison Creek has a boat ramp and handling docks. One will need to remove their boat at night or beach it near your campsite as mooring at the dock is not allowed.

Swim at your own risk as there is no lifeguard but you will find many people splashing and swimming on any hot day.

Recreational activities include camping, fishing, swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, hiking, sun bathing, photography and watching wildlife.

Picnic Area: There is a small picnic area near the boat ramp.

Wildlife: One could see deer, elk, black bear and many smaller animals in this area. There are many species of bird to watch along the shore and in the woods.

Phone service: We had service with our AT&T phones but there is no pay phone in the campground.

RV Dumping Site: If you need to dump your RV waste there is an RV dumping station on the north end of West Mountain Campground.

Nearby Services: When we needed supplies we drove to Donnelly, Idaho about 8 miles away.
