Olallie Lake Campground

Name: Olallie Lake Campground

Olallie Lake Campground is on rolling hills next to Olallie Lake near Mount Adams in Washington. The area is heavily forested and beautiful green. Mount Adams can be seen from the shore which makes a fantastic view. The map says there are 8 campsites but only 5 are still in use.

Campsites:  5 campsites are available, each is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Campsite 5 is indicated as a "group" site which houses twice as many campers.

Host on Site: There is no host on site however an attendant visits the campground at least once per day and twice normally. Attendant is located at Takhlakh Lake Campground and for 2013 was my personal friend Richard Nickolaus.

Water: No.

Garbage Services: Garbage service is available with cans located about the campground.

Electricity Available: No.

Restroom: There is one vault style outhouse which Rich keeps very clean.

Handicap Accessible: The outhouse is handicapp accessible.

Firewood:

You may purchase firewood from the attendant when he makes his rounds or by visiting Takhlakh Lake Campground host. The fee was $6 per bundle in 2013.

Pets:

Pets are allowed but must be kept leashed.

Picnic Area: No.

Recreation: The main recreational activities are fishing, hiking, photography and mountain climbing. There are several trails to hike in the area. I have included pictures of the maps of these trails in the "Host and Views" page on our Takhlakh Lake Campground review. I met several parties that were spending the night before they set out to climb at least part of Mt Adams. I am not a climber and did not find information on climbing the mountain at the campground. For a photographer this area is wonderful both for the greenery and the scenery.

Fishing: Fishing in Olallie Lake is available as well as in other nearby lakes and streams. Check the state regulations for restrictions and seasons.

Boating:

Electric powered and human powered boats are allowed on Olallie Lake.

Swimming: One could swim most anywhere in the lake but there is no life guard and swimming would be at your own risk.

Wildlife:

Deer and bear abound however there have been no reports of bear problems as of my visit in July of 2013.

Nearby Services: Randle, WA to the north is the nearest location for supplies.

RV Dumping Site: None, however there is a "gray water" disposal.

Location/Driving instructions: From Tacoma, WA follow this Google Map.
